Match Report
10 May 2019 / Team News

We consolidate our position in top 4.

Rhigos travelled up to us on a wet Wednesday night and with the kick off delayed for 30 minutes because of players arriving late from work. Because of work commitments we made a few changes and with the help of two permit player's Dan Gully from Cwmavon RFC and Sean Curran Aberavon Greenstars RFC in our backline, we would like to thank the two clubs for their help.

We kicked off playing towards the clubhouse end of the field and the early exchanges were even, but after 10 minutes we won a maul some 20 metres out and our scrum half Jonathan Howells found No. 8 Molly Jones on his shoulder Molly broke two tackles and crossed to the left of the posts for Sean Curran at 10 to convert. We were now on top and crossed the line on a couple of occasions but with the referee unsighted he deemed the ball to be held up. We then had a scrum 5 and Molly picked up to blast his way over for his 2nd try and 11th of the season which went unconverted.

With Rhigos doing their best and winning little ball we then scored our third try when the ball was spun around both forwards and backs the ball found centre Dan Gully who crossed out wide and a fine conversion by Curran gave us a 19 points lead.

In the last play of the half and from a rare attack by Rhigos we gave away a penalty switched off and their scrum half took a quick tap found a supporting player who crossed at the posts for a converted try. Which left us with a half time lead of 19pts to 7.

With the weather deteriorating balls were understandably dropped now and again. We scored our fourth and bonus point try when from a attack into the visitors 22 metre area the ball was transferred to hooker Liam Gibbs from out of a Tackle for Liam to cross under the posts for a converted try by Curran.

With the light getting very poor we attacked again at every opportunity and our final try was scored by Captain Damian Warlow which went unconverted. with both teams trying their best in now poor conditions the referee called time for a good win by us.
