Good solid win.

Warm sunshine welcomed old foes Bryncethin RFC to Ynyscorrwg Park for this Division 3 West Central B league match and it was 3 wins from 4  leagues matches for us which kept us in second place 3 points behind unbeaten Baglan RFC. We kicked off and put some pressure on the young Bryncethin team but they defended well. After some 10 minutes a delightful break by their number 10 resulted in a penalty close to our try line but what looked like a straight forward kick was missed. We then to pressure Bryncethin again and from some good rugby and some strong drives Robert Molly Jones scored a fine try which outside half Nathan Healy converted. We continued to attack and both teams threw the ball about and the young Bryncethin backs always looked a danger particularly their number 15 who ran from everywhere. With us camped in their 22 metre area we scored our second try when burly Centre Rhodri Milsom crashed through some would be tackles to score at the posts and Healy converted. We then scored our third try by scrum half Jonathan Howells who broke from a ruck on the 22 to cross close to the post again for Healy to convert. We then went looking for the bonus point try but some poor finishing and with players outside we took the wrong options and with some white line fever some players were a little guilty in not taking the right options. To be fair to Bryncethin who were living off scraps they tried to play open rugby a couple of passes went to ground when it look like they could cause some trouble but the defense stood strong. With the half coming to a close we at last scored the all elusive fourth try for that bonus point when Healy found himself in plenty of room to cross and run round behind the posts for a try and conversion to put us up 28 points to nil at half time.

The second half kicked off and we again went on the attack but Bryncethin again defended well and for the first 10 minutes it was quite even with both teams putting the ball through the hands and looking dangerous. Then from a line out close to the Bryn line we drove forward went to ground and the ball was picked up by Captain Damian Warlow to score a try but we missed the conversion. From a visit into our danger zone Bryncethin won a good ball and moved it along the line and scored a fine try but again with a straight forward kick the conversion was missed. After some more pressure we scored our sixth try by Milsom who again crashed through some would be tacklers to score at the posts for Healy to convert for a 40 points to 5 lead. With the game going into the final few minutes Bryncethin threw every thing at us but we held firm.

No game as yet for next week but keep posted we are looking for a game.
